Psychotherapists and their patients are overwhelmed, while the need for quality and effective psychotherapy has never been greater. The integrity of psychotherapy remains in peril. Its transformative power and influence rest upon the relationship between patient, practitioner, and the container of the therapeutic process. The profound sense of contact, containment, and mirroring provided by the original models of psychotherapy has been diluted by the demands and distractions of contemporary society; additionally, the current dilemma has made the old practices unfeasible for most. Communitas is a timely digital application that radically enhances the efficacy and influence of psychotherapy, using the same technology that is also ushering its demise.
Communitas accesses the primal power of community, serving as a digital hub for psychotherapy. Imagining a social media-style UX cross-bred with a My Chart functionality, Communitas facilitates psychotherapy for patient and practitioner, providing enhanced accountability, containment, and mirroring in the liminal space of transformative psychotherapy. Leveraging the latest technology, Communitas recreates a village-like experience of the therapeutic process for both patient and practitioner, dramatically increasing its effectiveness. It accomplishes this in three primary ways:
First, the patient and practitioner will receive unprecedented, relevant data tracking and centralization of the process of psychotherapy. This repository and centralization of data (i.e. communications, notes, images, links, etc)accumulates effortlessly and organically for the use of psychotherapy.
Secondly, Communitas provides previously unavailable support for patient and practitioner during and between sessions. Communitas’ dynamic and intuitive UX helps orient practitioner and patient in the process of psychotherapy, facilitating unparalleled feedback and engagement of the therapeutic process. Continuous multi perspective mirroring through curated data access and analysis offers patients and practitioners new opportunities for elucidation, exploration and transformation.
Finally, Communitas will have the option for patients (and eventually practitioners) to include appropriate people (additional healthcare providers, mentors, pastors, friends) in their personal Communitas. These accountability partners (Communes) play pivotal roles in the facilitation of psychotherapeutic transformation.
